Fieldwork Mission Rock has been welcoming guests since its soft opening earlier this summer, adding a new dining and gathering destination to the waterfront neighborhood developed by the San Francisco Giants and Tishman Speyer. The September 25–27 weekend marks the official grand-opening celebration of Fieldwork’s newest San Francisco location – and the occasion comes with a particularly fitting new beer.
Introducing Grab Some Pine, Meat!, a Westcoast IPA created in honor of longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow, who will retire from the Giants broadcast booth at the conclusion of the 2026 season after 36 years behind the microphone.
The beer takes its name from one of Krukow’s most beloved catchphrases, an unmistakable part of the Bay Area baseball lexicon and one that has been heard by generations of Giants fans.
“Mike Krukow is part of the fabric of San Francisco,” said Barry Braden, co-founder of Fieldwork Brewing Company. “He’s been there for so many of the moments that make being a Giants fan special, and we wanted to do something that felt very Fieldwork to celebrate him. A Westcoast IPA felt like the right beer, and ‘Grab Some Pine, Meat!’ was pretty much impossible to resist.”
Brewed with Dolcita, Simcoe, and Waimea hops, Grab Some Pine, Meat! is crafted in true Northern California fashion as a bone-dry, resinous Westcoast IPA with aromas of fresh pine needles, juicy pink grapefruit, and bright lime zest, all anchored by a subtle hint of crushed papaya and crisp passionfruit. It finishes lean, bright, and with just the right amount of snappy bite to remind you you’re drinking real Bay Area IPA and perfectly designed for raising a glass to Kruk and the final season of an extraordinary broadcasting career.
Fieldwork has made a $20,000 donation to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) in honor of Krukow and his longstanding commitment to supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer. Proceeds from sales of Grab Some Pine, Meat! will also benefit the organization. NNCCF has a longstanding connection to Krukow and his family, and Krukow has been a longtime advocate and supporter of the foundation, helping raise awareness and funds for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
THREE DAYS OF CELEBRATION
The official grand-opening weekend kicks off Friday, September 25, with a live broadcast of The Tom Tolbert Show from Mission Rock. Another legendary Bay Area sports voice, Tolbert will bring his popular show to the new Fieldwork taproom for a special live event, giving fans the chance to see the show in person while enjoying a beer just steps from Oracle Park.
The celebration continues throughout the weekend with giveaways, live entertainment, Fieldwork beer, plenty of delicious food and more, with details to be announced leading up to the event.
