U-Haul Offers Disaster Relief to Chicagoland Residents During Severe Storms

Five U-Haul® Companies across the Chicagoland area are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use at 60 U-Haul stores for residents who have been, or stand to be, impacted by the severe weather slamming the region this week.

Fast-moving storms packing high winds swept through parts of the Midwest on Wednesday. Chicago and neighboring communities saw property damage, power outages, downed trees and flash flooding. More dangerous storms are forecasted for Thursday with the potential for tornadoes.

Access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is essential to communities when preparing for or recovering from natural disasters. U-Haul is ready to help anyone affected by the storms who needs a dry, secure storage solution at no cost for one month.

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability at participating locations. The U-Box offer is for on-site storage at Company facilities; delivery is available for a modest fee.

Please reference the list below for storage locations offering the disaster relief program. Stop by any of the 60 U-Haul centers in Metro Chicago or call the nearest regional office to arrange 30 days of free storage.
